Scholarship Fund
Donate to the scholarship fund for young adults of the Child Rescue Centre (CRC) in Bo, Sierra Leone!
The Sierra Leone civil war resulted in the destruction or approximately 1,270 primary schools. This created a shortage in schools and teachers. Due to this, 67% of school-age children were out of school in 2001. Partly due to this lack of education, 70% of the Sierra Leone population lives below the international poverty line of $1 per day.
Part of the Child Rescue Centre’s mission is to provide education and skills training for orphans and street children. As the young children connected with the CRC continue to grow, the love and support they receive provides them with the confidence, dream and opportunity to continue their education at the university level.
There are two universities in Sierra Leone. The University of Sierra Leone, founded as Fourah Bay College in 1827, and Njala Universityy which was established as the Njala Agricultural Experimental Station in 1910 and became a university in 2005. Currently, eight of the original CRC children have successfully passed their WASSCE examinations and are studying at the university level. Three of the eight are currently in medical school.
At a fraction of the cost, your scholarship can allow a young adult from the CRC to continue his or her education at the university level and enable them to become a doctor, teacher, IT professional, or the next leader of their great Country.
