Our move in both cases gives us a great deal of flexibility and opens us to new possibilities. Our International HQ office move allows us to have a smaller physical footprint, thus saving money in overhead administrative costs that we can devote to increased program supports.  Our move to the central part of Freetown eases the burden of navigating local traffic jams to get where we need to be.

​During Covid times, we discovered that our international staff was well positioned to work from a mostly remote environment, and not anchoring them to an office chair gave them flexibility to work more creatively from all of the locations where they might travel and live. Thinking "out of the office" also gave us freedom to increase our pool of post-graduate interns to every university where social work, public health, and international relationships are studied - and to build that program to where it has become a boon, not just to us, but to the students we have mentored in the process, and the institutions where they attend classes. Applicants, who may be toying with the idea of a career in the international nonprofit sector, or simply interested in an internship where they are tasked to manage significant career-enhancing (and sometimes life changing) projects, are no longer required to live within commuter distance of our headquarters. The 2025 - 2026 interns attend 5 different institutions and live in 6 different cities in 5 different states.

While you may not be able to "just drop in" on us unannounced any longer, we are still all here and eager to serve, and greet you face-to-face in your community at one of the events or activities we share.
