We recruit mission sustaining development partners from the Global North.

We set financial reserves that sustain our longevity without impairing our program impact.

We are transparent in reporting and diligent in accounting.

We are trustworthy in our operations and build  trusting relationships with clear financial expectations and boundaries.

We budget wisely and conservatively, diversify funding sources, and maintain flexibility to respond to environmental changes.

We collaborate with local leadership and community -led programs, and transfer knowledge and capacity to ensure sustainable, self-directed progress.

Our alliances include program development, funding support, and policy collaboration.

We provide support, rather than control, with training, technical advice, and peer-to-peer network.

We provide limited, time-bound financial support through our international development work, and transfer knowledge and responsibility for funding to local leaders.

We send long-term and short-term mission teams with subject matter expertise to build local leadership and program capacity.

Our alliance to strengthen communities in Sierra Leone, one of the absolute poorest countries in the world, is a 25 year mission to support and join with leaders overseeing programs that provide vulnerable children and their families with opportunities for enriched and abundant life. We link resources to needs, providing access to  education, health services, and means to secure financial, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing.  

We continue to support the local leadership's progress toward securing country-based revenue streams.  

To the extent funding is available for the purpose, we  underwrite a portion of our allies' local program costs where they are align with our goals and especially where focused on education, child protection, family stability, maternal health, infant survival, and childhood nutrition.* 

We lead by example, demonstrating our commitment to the right of every child to grow at the center of  strong, safe, families and communities.

Join with our global networks with memberships that criss-cross the globe, linking global north to global south, setting examples on ethical mission, mutuality, empowerment, and elevating the voices often left out of the conversation. 

From Together for Global Health, to the Strong Family for Every Child Initiative to highlight the work in your own community, to Rising Tides' deep conversations between vital voices in the field, and including communities of practice within country borders and spanning continents, we demonstrate our commitment to work alongside those who are closest to the problems, and share our knowledge on what we've discovered in the process.

 *Our historic program allies in Sierra Leone include the Child Reintegration Centre (CRC), Mercy UMC Hospital, and the Mission Training Centre, Bo, Sierra Leone, three institutions which we were instrumental in co-founding with the United Methodist Church Sierra Leone Annual Conference. UMC-SLAC continues to own and operate those programs. Our primary direct funding of operational costs is for those institutions, however, we do fund other projects, programs, and allies in collaboration with a larger network of providers in Sierra Leone. In addition, we fund projects and collaborations in other countries, including the United States, and globally, as appropriate to meet our mission priorities for the year.
