Within the field of global health, Helping Children Worldwide has focused on supporting maternal and child health programs, and strengthening health systems, as we know that this vulnerable group is the most affected by poor health systems, and our mission is child-focused. We worked primarily with the population in the urban center of Bo, and the rural communities surrounding it with issues surrounding maternal and infant mortality as our key interest.

Why is Helping Children Worldwide doing this?
We planned to expand our reach around the globe to impact women and babies everywhere and help children worldwide. However, the time and resources to start afresh in other countries kept us from planting new programs. HCW decided to take a new approach to the healthcare side of our mission. We want to share our expertise, the lessons we’ve learned in global partnerships, and our collective resources with other organizations. We realized we could do that without opening a new clinic, or building a new hospital. All we had to do was create a new kind of partnership! This is why our Together for Global Health network was formed.
What sort of organization is Helping Children Worldwide? Are you a Christian Organization?
HCW is a registered US 501c3 nonprofit corporation, located in the greater DC area, and licensed throughout the United States as a charitable organization. We understand that GFH was founded as a secular humanitarian aid organization and CBN is a secular health network. HCW is a faith-based and secular partnership, with secular health and child welfare networks. We are not embarrassed by our faith. However, in making the decision to incorporate, our founders wanted to make it clear that our mission is humanitarian in nature, and we are not a church ministry. Our work serving children in need comes without theological requirements or strings attached and our partnerships are not religious in nature. Our international HQ staff, African-based partnership staff, and our board are a culturally diverse team. We require no statement of faith from employees, donors, partners, or program recipients. Our work is guided by faith in a better tomorrow, compassionate care, and service to the needy. These shared values unite us to achieve common goals.
