Mission: To partner with rural communities in Sierra Leone to redevelop health care systems, and to overcome one of the world's highest rates of maternal and child mortality.

Vision: Improving health and nutrition for mothers and children in Sierra Leone


Focus Areas: Maternal and child health; Treatment of infectious diseases and child malnutrition​

Program Summary: We work to improve maternal and child health in rural Sierra Leone, a country with one of the highest rates of maternal and child mortality. We do this through operating Birth Waiting Homes, Mobile outreach clinics, child malnutrition program, trainings for CHW's and a food security program.

Organization: The Good Shepherd Foundation

​Country: Haiti

Year Established: 2010

Vision:  A faith-based medical mission serving the people of Haiti. Dedicated to saving lives.

Mission: Through the virtues of faith, compassion and hope, we strive to promote change – to better lives through medical intervention, care and education.

Focus Areas: TGSF is focused on healthcare needs of the population and specifically women and children; we want to expand into healthcare education, nutrition, vaccinations and better hygiene through clean water access and latrines.

Program Summary: TGSF provides healthcare services and medicine addressing the healthcare needs of 15 communities in the Grand Saline area of Haiti. We see over 600 patients monthly and are working to transform access to clean water and sanitation which will reduce many of the diseases caused by consuming, bathing and cooking with polluted water.

Organization: Healey International Relief Foundation

​Country: Sierra Leone

Year Established: 2002

Mission:  To improve the quality of life of vulnerable individuals and families in Sierra Leone

Vision: Turning Scars into Stars in Sierra Leone

Focus Areas: 
​Health Systems Strengthening: Healey International Relief Foundation currently supports four hospitals and 10 clinics throughout Sierra Leone. Known as the Charity Health Network, these healthcare facilities are providing critical services to at-risk populations.
Orphan & Vulnerable Children: HealeyIRF is currently supporting St. Mary’s-Fatima House Interim Care Center at River #2.  Under the watchful eyes of Sisters Agatha and Felicia, 15 girls and 8 boys are now calling St. Mary’s-Fatima ICC home. We are providing the children shelter, food and education. A safe and nurturing environment for the children is our number one priority. 
Disaster Relief & Recovery: Providing immediate relief through food, blankets, clothing, and cash funds, our goal is to uplift affected communities and help them get back on their feet for the long-term. To increase our impact, along with Caritas Freetown, Tzu Chi Foundation, and Lanyi Foundation a consortium was formed, Partnering to Serve Humanity, which allows us to better coordinate our resources and provide a more effective response.

Program Summary: Our projects are focused on helping those most in need by supporting crucial SDG, such as good-health and well-being, quality education, no poverty and zero hunger.

Mission:  To significantly reduce maternal and infant mortality rates in under-served communities.  

Vision: We believe every mother and every infant, regardless of skin color, country of origin, religion, economic or social status has access to high quality and culturally relevant healthcare – the foundation of healthy, empowered communities.

Organization: Maya Midwifery International

​Country: Guatemala

Year Established: 1999

Mission:  To improve maternal child health outcomes by helping to prepare and sustain local midwives in their communities and helping them to have a voice in local and national policies which affect them.

Focus Areas: Reproductive, Maternal, and Newborn Health
​
Program Summary: Maya Midwifery International is a 501c3 charity dedicated to assisting indigenous Guatemalan midwives and other local health providers in addressing the many obstacles to effective and sustainable health care in their communities. Our model is based on listening to local concerns and addressing issues beyond training sessions and provision of services. It is one of material, economic, and cultural support, educational development, and community empowerment.

Organization: Miracle of Help

​Country: Sierra Leone

Year Established: 2018

Mission: Acting in accordance with the wishes of local communities, to bring health care to rural areas in need, in conjunction with establishing businesses, skills training, and interface with government officials.

Vision: To have our project be a template for future projects to help create healthier and more prosperous communities across rural Sierra Leone. 
​

Focus Areas: Our immediate goal is to build an MCHP in Ngolahun, providing pre- and post-natal care to women and children under five, but we feel that the necessary infrastructure must be in place for it to succeed in the long term. We would like to expand into health care for the men and boys of the community as well.
​
Program Summary: We refurbished a clinic in Ngolahun, in eastern Sierra Leone, and we run monthly clinics where we treat 200 - 300 people in three days with two doctors and two lab techs. We have also built a guest house for their visits. We have provided scholarships for a doctor, a nurse, and a midwife, who will give service back to the clinic. We built a workshop in Kenema to house the businesses that will support the hospital, including a restaurant that is starting to turn a profit. We have also installed wells, with storage tanks and solar pumps, in seven villages. We run re-feeding programs for severely and moderately malnourished children; we have treated 25 and are now treating another 27.

Focus Areas: MCH, midwifery, midwifery centers, data collection, standards implementation

Program Summary:  Goodbirth network works toward midwifery centers, scattered throughout women’s communities globally, focusing on low resource areas, strengthening midwifery, health care systems and access to care for women by providing safe, quality and compassionate care. In the next 5 years we hope to enable this by the completion of a global data base of birth centers, implementation of standards of care at midwifery centers globally and data collection. We do this by supporting, mentoring , educating and promoting good birth practices utilizing the midwifery center model in low resource communities to promote accessibility of quality, respectful and compassionate women’s health.
