What is Short Term Mission like?

In mission, you travel to support the work of strengthening and empowering families and communities. Your role begins before you travel and after you return, as you grow with the gifts bestowed upon you in mission service. You may be doing many completely different tasks, taking in the challenges of the countryside as you travel through it, and participating in devotions to help you process your spiritual and physical journey. What do you do? So many things. Each trip is different, and we use the strengths God sends to us in each of you to craft the individual and unique ways you will serve - like performing an important medical equipment inventory to help in future plans for support, assisting in medical outreach with the staff of Mercy Hospital, visiting a family supported by the Child Reintegration Centre, or touring a historic site to understand our connections to one another, to think about how the past we inherited from our ancestors hundreds of years ago may still impact our relationships in the present, You may also be assisting in something as necessary and mundane as painting, or picking up trash. Always take a well deserved moment to recognize the beauty of the place that you have visited, to bring back something of beauty to share, and to reflect upon the journey and the friendships made or strengthened along the way.
