The Transition Coaching and Mentoring Department has been working tirelessly with partners and building relationships with other child protection agencies to promote a new model of care for children in families (and not institutions) in Sierra Leone as a best practice to ensure a safer place for the children these organizations serve. Part of this work includes education and advocacy, so in order to get this message out more broadly, the TCM organized a training specifically for those in the media in Sierra Leone. The training included over 35 participants from different media organizations in Bo, Kenema, Pujehun, and Moyamba. During the highly participatory session, participants were equipped with the knowledge they need so that they can properly disseminate the message of family reunification from their various outlets. The participants were very enthusiastic about using their new knowledge to educate the general populace on the importance for every child to grow up in a family.
