The women of Bethel-Emmanuel United Methodist Charge (BEUMC) United Women In Faith under the leadership of Deb Beutel put together 68 layette kits, set to travel to Mercy Hospital in the next year. Deb has also raised about $750 and will also be organizing another event to assemble layette kits in her neighborhood.
Layette kits are given to mothers who give birth at Mercy Hospital, and include a infant outfit, cloth diapers, and a blanket. It's a wonderful way that Mercy celebrates a safe and successful delivery and new life entering into the world. In a country with high infant and maternal mortality, we want to take every opportunity to say "Tenki for Born": Thank you for being born.
