An immigrant from Guinea, Taibou had not received prenatal care before coming to Mercy Hospital in labor, which was not progressing due to android (narrow) pelvic structure. An elective cesarean delivery was performed and Taibou delivered a healthy baby boy. The condition of android pelvis is not common in Sierra Leone, but without access to surgery could easily lead to the death of mother or infant. "I am so pleased with the care given to me," Taibou said. "Thanks to God because of this baby boy."
