The nutrition program at Mercy Hospital reported two more success stories from their recent outreach visit. Mohamed Alie Khadar and the rest of the outreach team visited communities around Bo and recognized two children as in need of nutritional care. One child, Mohamed Kanneh, who is a year old, was very lean for his age and the team diagnosed him as malnourished. The team conducted a screening and noticed that Mohamed fulfilled all the criteria for the nutrition program so was given a supply of pikin mix. With the help of the program, the child is now gradually gaining weight and eating well. His family thanked Mercy for taking such a strong initiative in helping malnourished children and hope it can continue to be extended to other villages in need. Another child, Gracious Bangalie who is 15 months old, was also found to be malnourished on an outreach visit. He also was screened as usual and fulfilled all the criteria for the nutrition program, so was also included in the program and given a supply. The mother expressed her thanks and appreciation for the food supply given as she noted, "it is nutritious and supports the healthy development of my child". The team has really helped to reduce the malnutrition rate of children in various communities.
