When Lemblema Village asked CRC, Mercy and HCW to build a Court Barry for them as the initiating project in the Village Partnership, it was clear that they had a plan for community. A Court Barry is the Sierra Leone equivalent of a community center where the community comes together for town halls, recreation and education. That meeting place has been used in many diverse ways since its completion, from hosting a training by the CRC for Day of the African Child, to setting the stage for community negotiations over the next phases of the project.
It is only the first step in a long process, but it again proves that trusting a community to establish their needs and solutions is definitely a step in the right direction.
